It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Margaret T. Macdonald, cherished mother, grandmother, aunt and friend, who passed away Friday, September 18, 2026, at the age of 96. A longtime resident of Rock Springs, Margaret was known for her warmth, kindness and unwavering dedication to her family and community.

Born in Kemmerer, Wyoming on July 16, 1930, Margaret was the beloved daughter of Walter and Bronislawa Turley. She attended local schools and graduated from Kemmerer High School in the class of 1948. Margaret pursued further education at Henager School of Business, where she honed the skills that would define her professional life.

She married Donald “Don” Macdonald Oct 4, 1959, in Rock Springs. He preceded her in death in 2013.

Margaret dedicated 44 years of her life to federal employment with the Bureau of Reclamation, Geological Survey and Bureau of Land Management before retiring in April of 1993. Her work ethic and meticulous nature earned her the respect and admiration of her colleagues. Beyond her official career, she also served as a dedicated school aide at Lincoln School, nurturing and guiding young minds.

A woman of varied interests and passions, Margaret was actively involved in several organizations including the Slovene National Benefit Society and Cowboy Joe Club. She was a dedicated Cub Scout troop leader, sharing her love for learning and adventure with the younger generation. A sports enthusiast, Margaret was a loyal University of Wyoming fan, and in her free time, she enjoyed golfing, sewing, reading, and walking.

She is survived by her loving family: her son Scott Macdonald and wife Anne of Centennial, Colorado; her daughter Karen Macdonald of Rock Springs; her grandchildren James, Meg and Nicole Macdonald; as well as her niece, Pam Henderson; and her nephews, Mark and Ian Macdonald.

Margaret was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Donald “Don” Macdonald, along with her parents, Walter and Bronislawa Turley; brother, Walter Turley Jr.; sister, Theresa Thurston; brothers-in-law, Ramsay Macdonald and Ian Macdonald; nephew, Stuart Schmidt and her niece, Mary Macdonald.

Private graveside services and interment will be conducted.
