Karen Eubank, age 88, from Kemmerer, passed away at the South Lincoln Nursing Center on Friday, Oct. 2.

Karen was born in Jackson, Wyoming, on April 9, 1938, to Edward and Eva Lunbeck. She was the youngest of three children. Her family moved many times while she was growing up so she attended numerous schools around Wyoming, and for a while in Hawthorne, Nevada. However, she finished her school years in Jackson and graduated from the Jackson-Wilson High School in 1957. She was the only member of her family to finish high school.

On March 24, 1959, Karen married the love of her life, Jim Eubank, which was the beginning of a 64-year marriage, until Jim passed away in 2023. The first part of their marriage was spent in Port Townsend, Washington, while Jim was in the Coast Guard and they settled on the family ranch in LaBarge where they raised their four children.

Karen cooked for the haying crew, ran baler through the haying season, fed livestock in the winter and took charge of bottle feeding the bum calves and lambs.

After the ranch, they went to Lake Havasu, Arizona, where they built and operated a convenience store, then moved on to run the family lumber mill in Inglewood, California. They eventually retired in Kemmerer.

Karen enjoyed gardening, baking, playing cards, catering to her cats and spending time with her family. She also loved picnicking and roasting marshmallows; there was no one who could outeat her on marshmallows.

Karen was one of the most loving, kindhearted, gentle people you could meet. She had a way of looking for the good in everyone.

Karen is survived by her oldest son, Jesse (Vickie) Eubank; daughters, Julie Strassman and Laura (Brent) Decker; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jim; parents, Edward and Eva Lunbeck; siblings, Edward Lunbeck, Jr. and Tony (Jesse) Gault; sister-in-law, Joanne Talmadge; brother-in-law, Phil Talmadge; and youngest son, Daniel Eubank.

Services will be held at Viola Cemetery with a private family service.
