Local students competed in the 2019 Southwest Science Fair, hosted by Western Wyoming Community College on January 24. Kemmerer Junior High student Mekena Kovach earned 3rd place in the Chemistry/Energy category for her project, “What Effect Does Fabric Softener have on the Flammability of Different Types of Fabric?” Afton Orvin earned 2nd place in the Physics and Astronomy Category for her project, “How do Different Tones Affect Water?” The overall winner was Nicholas Smith-Curill of Pinedale Middle School.
