KEMMERER — Kemmerer natives Alec and Jenee Rudy have turned their shared passion for health and fitness into a thriving business that is making waves in the local community. Founded in 2019, J&A Wellness offers personalized lifestyle coaching, meal planning, and strength and conditioning programs tailored to individual needs.
With their motto, “Keep Climbing” and helping people realize that self-care is not selfish, the Rudys aim to inspire sustainable changes in how their clients approach food, movement and mindset.
The couple’s passion turned to purpose when the idea for J&A Wellness was born out of Alec and Jenee’s own experiences as competitive bodybuilders.
“We realized there’s so much more to exercise, diet, and health than we initially thought,” Alec said. “You don’t have to deprive yourself to lose weight! It’s about balance, consistency, and having a strong why.”
This revelation inspired them to create a business that helps people achieve their health goals in a sustainable way.
What sets their company apart from cookie-cutter diet plans and generic workout routines is how they take a personalized approach for each client.
“Every client’s meal plan and movement routine is unique,” Alec said. “We’re not just a diet; we’re a lifestyle, and that lifestyle is different for everyone.”
Their one-on-one coaching ensures clients feel heard and supported, fostering an environment where real transformation can occur.
“We don’t claim to have all the answers, but we ask all the right questions,” Alec said.
Growing its legacy over the past five years, J&A Wellness has expanded its reach, particularly among student athletes. Alec’s work with young athletes through the Youth Academy and Elevated Athlete programs focuses on perfecting form, technique, and approach in the weight room while emphasizing the importance of diet and recovery.
“Proper technique reduces injury and gives student athletes a competitive edge,” he said.
There are challenges to running a health coaching business.
“We’re not necessarily a ‘necessity’ in someone’s budget,” Alec said, “and I have to find ways to create inspiration and a desire to improve. But no one has ever regretted investing in themselves after working with us.”
Despite these hurdles, the Rudys remain deeply committed to their community. Alec coaches junior high football and serves as the “Iron Ranger” coach for Kemmerer Junior-Senior High School during the summer months and after school.
The couple’s involvement with the local chamber of commerce’s downtown committee reflects their dedication to Kemmerer’s growth and well-being.
Looking ahead, the Rudys have big plans for the future, including having an office downtown and continuing to expand their virtual coaching services to reach more clients beyond Kemmerer.
“Every program we offer can be delivered remotely, and we’re excited to plant seeds in other states,” Alec said.
The Rudys said they hope there will be a ripple effect of wellness and they believe the impact of their work extends far beyond individual clients.
“When one person decides to change, the effect can be so much bigger than just them. When people in your circle see you being your best self, they get inspired to do the same,” Alec said.
Their mission is clear: to provide people with the tools and guidance to lower stress, achieve physical goals, and create a healthier lifestyle. And they’re doing it all with a personal touch that can be rare the industry.
For J&A Wellness, the journey is as rewarding as the destination.
“Helping people change their habits and improve their lives is a reward many never get to experience,” Alec said. “I’m grateful we’ve created a business that does just that.”
