Ken Willard Walker, age 81, passed away on Thursday, Aug. 3, at South Lincoln Medical Center. Ken was born on July 16, 1942, to Vernon and Iva Eardley Walker. He was the youngest of nine children.
He married Ann Richins and together they had two children, Melanie and Karyn.
Over the years, Ken was involved in many different organizations including Lincoln County Search and Rescue and Kemmerer Volunteer Fire Department. He was one of the original founding members of the Commissary Commandos, as well as the founding member of the South Lincoln County SnowBears.
He was instrumental in establishing a trail system, building and maintaining a parking/unloading area and also involved in the marking trails and trail maintenance.
Ken retired in 1997, after working as district manager of Pacific Power Lines and Services for several years. After retirement, he maintained the Kemmerer Airport runways during the winter months, helped local ranchers during haying season and groomed snowmachine trails up Hamsfork and Dempsey.
His hobbies included camping, riding horses, motorcycles and snowmachines, and taking buggy rides in his razor.
He is survived by his wife, Ann; daughters, Melanie (Steve) of Evanston and Karyn (Wayne) of Kemmerer; grandchildren, Brandee (Wes), Alex (Alexis), Kimberlee and Eric (Taylor); and great-grandchildren, Hailee, Teagan, Dustee, Lanae and Capri. He is also survived by his brother, Trulon.
Ken is preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and three sisters.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. at the Kemmerer cemetery on Wednesday, Aug. 9.
