Allan Kirkwood, 83, of Marbleton, passed away on Monday, Sept. 18. He was born on Aug. 25, 1940, in Kemmerer, to the late Allan Smith Kirkwood and Olga Francis Kirkwood (Zebre).

Al was a very loving, kind and quiet man. He took great pride in his grandchildren and was extremely proud of them. He had a laid-back personality and was known for his ability to tell captivating stories.

Al had a deep love for the outdoors and enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping and watching sports. His greatest joy in life was spending time with his grandchildren. Al was also a wonderful father to his children: Allan Kirkwood, Johnny Kirkwood, Pete and Amy Kirkwood, Bear and Cadi Kirkwood, and Sheila and Cliff Hoffman.

He passed down his knowledge of hunting and fishing to his loved ones.

In 1962, Al entered the United States Army and served until 1965. He was associated with the Army during his military service. After his time in the military, Al pursued a career in the oilfields around Big Piney, where he worked as a pumper until his retirement.

Al attended Kemmerer Elementary and Kemmerer High School for his primary and secondary education. He also spent a year at the University of Wyoming.

Al is survived by his children; his grandchildren: Tailor Kirkwood, KayLynn Kirkwood, Cameron Kirkwood, Brad Hoffman, Jacob Hoffman, Annalee Kirkwood and Ryan Knapp; sister, Mary (Larry) Hunzie; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his father; mother; brothers, Frank and Bobby Kirkwood; and son, Johnny Kirkwood.

May Al Kirkwood rest in peace, and may his memory be cherished by all who knew and loved him.
