Sen. Steinmetz has no business legislating carbon science

Posted

Dear Editor,

Can we please have some level of intelligent scrutiny applied to Wyoming District 3 State Senator Cheri Steinmetzs newly introduced bill, Make Carbon Dioxide Great Again, SF0092?” Wyoming, since when did you let people give advice on issues they have no understanding of? Would you let a lawyer tell you how to ranch? Or an accountant tell you how to milk a cow?
No, because that is not their background, experience or expertise.

Why are we letting a community college dropout have any involvement in legislating carbon science and climatology? Does she have a special degree in Earth Sciences?! Has she collaborated with professionals in the field of carbon cycling?
This is someone stepping so far out of her bounds, which is surprising for a person who is all about accountability. When do we hold someone accountable for being completely uninformed?

This is garbage tax-payer funded fear mongering by someone with absolutely no training who should be focused on her small corner of the state, not on policy that has significant regional and global implications. Im sure Cheri can create a beautiful and prosperous Main Street in Torrington, thats what people voted for. She can make school districts hostile to trans/nonbinary kids, regulate women’s bodies, force church into all aspects of life, and all in the name of small government. Keep your impact small and local Cheri, and leave the rest of the country up to people who know what they are talking about. Until you are on par with the 195 members of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), stay out of it. Your opinions on the topic are a waste of our time and dangerous to future generations.

Sincerely,

Noah Chutz, Pinedale, Wyo.
