The Kemmerer High School boys’ hoops team took on the teams from Bridger Valley last week, losing on the road at Lyman Tuesday, and at home to Mountain View Thursday in a pair of non-conference matchups.
Tuesday’s game at the Eagle’s Nest in Lyman was close for three quarters, though the second quarter proved to be the Rangers’ undoing in a 60-41 loss. At home Thursday against the Buffalos, Kemmerer got down early in the first half and was unable to recover, despite playing the second half fairly even in a 61-42 loss.
The Rangers are now 5-12 on the season, 1-2 in 2A West play; they’re on the road this weekend, with games scheduled at Shoshoni Friday and Thermopolis Saturday.
Lyman 60, Rangers 41
The Rangers opened the week at 3A Lyman Tuesday, and got off to a solid start, holding an 11-9 lead after a quarter of play.
The Eagles took over in the second quarter, however, outscoring the visitors 22-10 to take a 31-21 lead into the break. The Rangers played tough in the second half, but ran out of steam in the fourth, losing 60-41.
Bryson McGill paced the Rangers with a double-double, netting 16 points, and pulling down 13 rebounds. Cage Bowen finished with eight points and nine boards, while Gabe Wiswell added six points. Kane Jimenex chipped in five points, while Sam Thatcher and Ethyn Perkins closed out the scoring with four points and two points, respectively.
Mountain View 61, Rangers 42
Kemmerer welcomed Mountain View to Rangers Gymnasium Thursday, and found themselves trailing by 15 at the break, 31-16.
The Rangers kept it close in the second half, but were unable to cut into the first-half deficit, falling to the Buffalos 61-42.
Bryson McGill recorded his second double-double in as many games, with 11 points and 10 rebounds. Gabe Wiswell and Ethyn Perkins finished with eight points apiece, while Cage Bowen and Sam Thatcher chipped in seven points and five points, respectively. Kane Jimenez rounded out the scoring with three points.
