The Kemmerer High School wrestling team was back on the road Saturday for the Rumble in Rawlins, posting a 3-1 record in the dual-meet format, including a pair of wins over 4A opponents.

The Rangers opened the tournament with a 57-21 win over Douglas, but fell to Rock Springs in the second round, 47-36. Kemmerer closed out the tournament with a sweep of the Casper teams, beating Natrona County 54-19, and following that with a 42-40 win over Kelly Walsh.

Three Rangers went undefeated for the tournament, including Roany Proffit at 126 pounds. Proffit went 4-0 for the tournament, with three pins and a forfeit; pins came against Sam Taylor (Douglas), Lincoln Young (Rock Springs) and Quade Siemens (Natrona County).

At 138 pounds, Cole Rogers posted a 4-0 record, also with three pins and a forfeit; pins came against Jack Noblin (Douglas), Dominic Powell (Natrona County) and Easton Ginder (Kelly Walsh).

Graison Kelley rounded out the Rangers’ undefeated contingent, pinning all of his opponents, en route to a 4-0 record. Pins came against Michael Rouse (Douglas), Reuben Cleveland (Rock Springs), Austin Blajszczak (Natrona County) and Tyvon Nichols (Kelly Walsh).

Other Rangers with notable performances included Bryce Brown at 132 pounds (3-1), Owen Barton at 215/285 pounds (3-1), Hunter Batista at 120 pounds (2-2), Abel Jimenez at 106 pounds (2-2), Bridger Anderson at 175 pounds (2-1), Tanner Schramm at 190/215 pounds (2-1), Michael Symons at 144 pounds (1-1) and Brace Vickrey at 150 pounds (1-2).

Lady Rangers strong in Rawlins

The EHS girls’ wrestling team also competed at the Rumble in Rawlins Saturday, with four Lady Rangers dominating their respective weight classes.

At 100-105 pounds, Riley Meyer finished first, while at 120 pounds, Laynee Walker also finished in the top spot, with teammate Fatima Gulalai second.

At 140 pounds, Kaylie Julander — last week’s Ron Thon champion — finished first for the second straight week.
