Marguerite “Marge” Daneluk, aged 91, passed away peacefully in her sleep at the South Lincoln Care Center on Wednesday, Dec. 13. Her passing leaves a profound void in the hearts of her family, friends, and the wider community, who will remember her with deep respect, love and admiration.
Born in 1932, in Los Angeles, to David B. and Chrys Snedden, Marge grew up amidst the glamour of Hollywood. Her father, a set carpenter at MGM Studios, built a beautiful custom home in Culver City, just a block away from the studio, where Marge had the unique experience of meeting movie stars.
At 13, her life took a dramatic turn when her family purchased the Snedden Ranch off Hamsfork, transitioning from the bustling city life to the rustic charm of ranch living. Marge cherished her horses, Ann and Pal, and reveled in the ranch’s beauty.
As a teenager, she worked in Kemmerer. In 1950, her life united with Ralph W. Gunter from Kemmerer, leading to a loving marriage and the birth of their children, Gordon and Sheryl.
The 1960s marked another significant change when the family sold the ranch and her parents, David and Chrys, with help from family, established the Riverside RV Park. Marge dedicated herself tirelessly to this family venture, managing it with unwavering commitment and never uttering a complaint. In addition to caring for her children and mother, she pursued further education in administrative and bookkeeping courses at night.
Marge’s professional journey also included roles at Gambles, Bonicelli Insurance, the Lincoln County Courthouse and Williams. It was there she met and married James “Jim” Daneluk, expanding her family to include 3 additional children — Chris, Kelly, and Cathy — who adored her and appreciated the joy she brought into their father’s life.
Known for her generosity, love, strong sense of fairness and hard work, Marge enjoyed playing pinochle, sponsoring bowling teams, and sharing coffee and doughnuts with her neighbor, Carolyn, and other dear friends.
Her passions included Bear Lake, Mesquite, her Los Angeles family, horses, her long-lived dogs, grand dogs and, above all, her family, for whom she would sacrifice anything.
She is preceded in death by her parents, David B. and Chrys (Keir) Snedden; her first husband, Ralph Gunter; sister, Betty (Snedden) Smith; brother, Peter Allen Snedden; and second husband, James Daneluk; and granddaughter, Jessica Nelson.
Marge’s legacy lives on through her son, Gordon (Norri) Gunter; daughter, Sheryl Gunter (Matt York); grandchildren, Daniel (Jessica) Bryant, Vanessa Bryant, Geoffrey Gunter, Shane, Dell and Jackie (Hall) Dellinger; great-grandchildren, Decker and Walker; and children, Chris (Kary) Ellsworth, Kelly (Sharon) Daneluk and Cathy Daneluk; grandchildren, Erik, Cori (Brandon), Maddisen, Jackson and Richie; great-grandchildren, Dakkota and Zoe; and numerous nieces; nephews and cousins.
Her life, filled with love, hard work, and dedication, will continue to inspire all who knew her.
A celebration of life is planned at a later date. In lieu of flowers, Marge’s family would prefer you to give a gift to your favorite animal charity, plant a tree; or a fund has been started for a memorial bench.
