On March 17, students from Kemmerer Junior Senior High School and New Frontier High School who are participating in DVR’s Transitional Skills Program visited the Westmoreland Kemmerer Mine. Students had the opportunity to hear from many employees at the mine. Employees shared personal stories of getting their start at the mine, including what type of education and experience was required for their jobs and careers. Almost every employee stated that having a good attitude was key to success in any job. After the presentation, students rode on a bus to see the mine. All were fascinated by the communication that takes place to ensure the mine runs efficiently. (COURTESY PHOTO)
