Kemmerer woman turned 104 this week!

Posted

Edna Rebecca Miller was born on May 5, 1921, in Fairfax County Virginia. She is one of 11 children, with two brothers still living.

She met Jay Hartman in her church youth group and then married him on Jan. 1, 1948. They lived for a short time in Washington, D.C. They purchased a small farm in the Maryland suburbs where they had three boys.

The farm kept everyone busy raising sweet corn and other vegetables to sell on the property. She canned and froze a lot for winter eating.

She enjoyed singing in her church choir and watching golf (which she never played). When her husband passed away in 2001, she moved to Lothian, Maryland, to be near her oldest son.

In 2014, she moved to Kemmerer to live with her youngest son. Last March, she was place in the South Lincoln Nursing Center, where she has made some good friends and receives excellent care.
