Junior Charity Chamberlain passes for the Lady Rangers against Rocky Mountain in the 2A West regional tournament in Lander. The team is at the state tournament in Casper starting today.
The Lady Ranger volleyball team went into the 2A West regional tournament in Lander ready to fight for a spot in the 2018 state tournament. The last time the Lady Rangers competed at the 2A state tournament was in 2015, when Kemmerer earned second place.
On the morning of Friday, Oct. 26, No. 3 SW Kemmerer played No. 2 NW Rocky Mountain. It was a battle to the very end, but Kemmerer came out on top 3–2, with set scores of 25–22, 25–16, 24–26, 25–27, 15–7.
The next matchup for the Lady Rangers pitted them against Shoshoni. Kemmerer didn’t fare as well in that match, losing 3-0, with set scores of 27-25, 25-14, 25-15. As a result of that game, Shoshoni qualified for the state tournament and Kemmerer had to keep fighting for a spot.
On Saturday, Oct. 27, Kemmerer faced off against Wyoming Indian and swept the game in three, 25-13, 30-28, 26-24. The Lady Rangers’ victory eliminated Wyoming Indian and earned Kemmerer a spot in the state tournament.
For the last match at regionals, Kemmerer played Wind River, and lost 3-2, with set scores of 33–31, 25–10, 14–25, 15–25, 16–14. Kemmerer’s regional tournament results earned the team fourth place in the 2A West.
The Lady Rangers are at the 2A state tournament in Casper this weekend at the Casper Events Center.
To open their state tournament play on Thursday, Nov. 1, the Lady Rangers (No. 4 in the West) face off against Wright (No. 1 in the East) at 7:30 p.m.
If Kemmerer beats Wright, they play the winner of the Glenrock/Shoshoni game on Friday, Nov. 2, at 6:00 p.m. If the Lady Rangers fall to Wright on Thursday, they will play the loser of the Glenrock/Shoshoni game on Friday, Nov. 2, at 2:30 p.m. The loser of that match is out.
The games on Saturday, Nov. 3, will be determined by the results of Thursday and Friday matchups.
