KEMMERER — Kemmerer High School students were recognized for acquired scholarships last week. Students received local, national and institutional awards to fund their postsecondary education.

Kemmerer seniors receive scholarships, academic awards

KEMMERER — Kemmerer High School students were recognized for acquired scholarships last week. Students received local, national and institutional awards to fund their postsecondary education.

Janelle Sawaya was awarded the American Legion Special Recognition Scholarship, as well as a merit scholarship and a Music Therapy in Social Justice Scholarship, both from Slippery Rock University. Sawaya also earned admission into Slippery Rock’s honors college. Sawaya additionally received the Farm Bureau Insurance Scholarship. Camden Killian received the Art Piz Scholarship, Clyde F. Griffin Memorial Scholarship, Rosemary Nickles Memorial Aviation Scholarship, Northwestern Music Scholarship, Interact Good Samritan Scholarship, Kemmerer Education Association Scholarship and a Rocky Mountain Power Naughton Plant Employee/Dependent Educational Grant.

Arianne Dearden received the First Bank of Wyoming Scholarship, Utah State University Presidential Scholarship, Lions Club Scholarship and Superior Science Scholar Award. Tyler Combs received the Diamond Energy/ Woody Studt Scholarship, Lineman Program Scholarship, American Legion Scholarship, Eagles Aeries Scholarship, Kemmerer Tradesman Scholarship, Neilson’s Furniture & Appliance Scholarship, Western Wyoming Community College Power Line Program Scholarship and Rotary Club’s Rotech Award.

Kalieh McCloud received the Sammy McCloud Scholarship, WACERS Scholarship, Christy Cook and Pamela Pellerin Memorial Scholarship, J&A Wellness “Keep Climbing” Scholarship, Kemmerer Education Association Scholarship, Pay it Forward Scholarship and the Student Council Citizenship Scholarship. Madieh McCloud also received the Sammy McCloud, WACERS, Christy Cook and Pamela Pellerin Memorial, Kemmerer Education Association and Student Council Citizenship Scholarships, alongside an American Legion Scholarship and Lincoln County Commissioners Scholarship.

Maribel Garcia received scholarships from GEAR-UP, Masonic Lodge No. 33 and the Amber Lynn Heim Memorial Scholarship. Dylan Hagler also received the GEAR-UP Scholarship, along with the Bell Family Chapel Scholarship. Emily See received GEAR-UP and Kemmerer Operations, LLC Mine scholarships. David Bullock received a National Guard Scholarship. Gabriel Emery received admission to the Military Academy at West Point and has signed to wrestle.

Lillian Jamison received the Embry Riddle Aeronautical University Chancellor’s Scholarship, as well as a Women of Excellence Award, travel grant and summer camp scholarship from the institution. Kylie Price received University of Jamestown Women’s Swimming and Diving and Nursing Scholarships. She also earned the Masonic Lodge # 33 and Neilson’s Furniture & Appliance Scholarships. Tyler Thatcher received Utah State University Service and Student Government Awards, as well as a Presidential Scholarship. He additionally received the Interact Good Samaritan, Kemmerer Booster Club, Kemmerer Education Association, United Mine Workers of America Local 1307 and Lincoln County Commissioners Scholarships.

Bryce Brown received the Cowboy Commitment and KOL & United Mine Workers of America Scholarships. Tanner Schramm received the Cowboy Commitment, Diamondville Wrestling Club, Kemmerer Education Association, Nelson’s Furniture and Appliance and Tegeler & Associates Scholarships. Gracee Painter received the American Legion Scholarship, Eagles Auxiliary Scholarship and United Mine Workers of America Local 1307 Scholarship. Micalyn Carlson received the Bell Family Chapel, Kemmerer Education Association and Lions Club Scholarships. Emma Ryerse received the Interact Good Samaritan Scholarship. Cayenne Henrie received the Jim and Norma Flanders and Kemmerer Education Association Scholarships.

Natalie Bumgarner received the Katie Anne Krotz Memorial Scholarship. Skyler Rogers received the Kemmerer Education Association and Pay it Forward Scholarships. Nadia Runnion received the Kemmerer Education Association Scholarship. Aralyn Erickson received the Kemmerer Education Association and Neilson’s Furniture & Appliance Scholarships. Kaylee Miller received the Kemmerer Education Association and Steve & Lexi Ourada Memorial Scholarships. Kaden Witbeck earned the John L Kemmerer Scholarship.

All but four seniors were recognized for graduating with credit from Western Wyoming Community College. Lyla Maxwell graduated with 44 college credit hours.
