Annual event brings music, vendors, family fun to Kemmerer

FossilFest returned to downtown Kemmerer on Friday and Saturday, June 13 and 14, bringing a weekend full of vendors, live music, dancing and family-friendly activities.

Around 15 vendors set up for the event, offering a variety of goods to the community. The celebration, organized entirely by local volunteers, included much more than vendor booths. A lively water fight broke out across the street, and Committee Chair Camille Plowman noted it was “perfect weather for that.”

Plowman has been involved with FossilFest for 15 years, starting as a committee member and now serving as chair. The event is run by a dedicated committee of community members who work year-round to bring it all together.

“It takes all year to plan it, and we love seeing it come together and see people have a good time,” Plowman said.

Live music filled the air with performances from the Carver Louis Band on Friday, followed by the Skyler Geer Band and Whitney Lusk Band on Saturday. Local dance talent was also showcased as Jill Boylen’s group, Elite Dance, took the stage with dancers of all ages participating.

In keeping with the spirit of inclusivity and community, there was no charge for the family fun night. The committee does accept donations, with the goal of raising enough money to continue offering the event again next year.

Plowman said she was happy to welcome some first-time vendors, as well as returning vendors — including a few who traveled from back east. With strong local support, sunny skies, and a variety of entertainment, this year’s FossilFest once again brought the Kemmerer community together to celebrate summer in small-town style.
