Diamondville Mayor Clint Bowen has resigned, effective Friday, Oct. 31. According to a letter posted to the town’s Facebook page on Monday, Bowen has “made the difficult decision to step down … due to personal reasons.”

“Serving as your mayor has been one of the greatest honors of my life,” Bowen wrote. “I am incredibly proud of what we have accomplished together during my time in office. I want to thank the Town Council, our dedicated staff, and most of all, the residents of this great town for your trust and support.

“While this decision was not made lightly,” Bowen continued, “I am confident that the leadership team in place will continue to serve our town with dedication and integrity.”

Bowen said he’s committed to supporting the transition to a new mayor however he can and “will always be an advocate for Diamondville and its future.”

Bowen’s successor will be chosen by the Diamondville Town Council, which will appoint someone from among its current members: Eric Backman, Sherrol Sloan, Nicole Petersen and Robert Sawaya.

Bowen was elected in 2022 to a four-year term. Whoever is chosen as his replacement will fulfill that remaining term.
