Community members gathered at the local Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints building in Kemmerer to participate in the Horizons Tabletop Game Festival on Saturday, Sept. 13. The event lasted from 11 a.m. until 9 p.m.
Games included those of the modern variety, as well as games from “your mother’s childhood.” Organizers have been holding game days for the past four years.
Thayne Peterson of Mountain View has collected games all his life and has a room in his home dedicated to games. Avrid Aase has been collecting games for four years and counting.
Last year, the event had around 35 participants. This year there were 40.
Organizers said they started the event to give churchgoers another option for local entertainment.
They also play volleyball, basketball and pickleball but not everyone likes to play sports. The Horizions Tabletop Game Festival, while put on by the LDS church, is open to the public. Organizers said they plan to have another game day soon.
