KEMMERER — Nonprofits meet critical needs and add vibrancy to Wyoming’s communities. They also depend on donations and grants to fulfill their missions. The Wyoming Community Foundation (WYCF) is an organization working to support Wyoming nonprofits by investing in communities.

In the Kemmerer, Diamondville and the Frontier area, the Kemmerer Foundation Fund at WYCF is supporting nonprofit work in the areas of arts and culture, civic projects, recreation, and health and human services. Distributions from this fund have exceeded $1.5 million since inception, funding more than 130 projects since the Kemmerer Foundation transitioned to the WYCF in 1999.

This year, more than $103,000 in grants to support area nonprofits were awarded.

The Kemmerer Foundation was established in 1981 following the sale of the Kemmerer Coal Company. John L. Kemmerer created the Foundation with a $1,000,000 endowment to benefit  Kemmerer, Diamondville, and the area known as Frontier.

This was his way of giving back to the area that had done so much for his family. Since the original contribution the Kemmerer family has continued adding to this endowment.

The next deadline to apply for funding from the Kemmerer Foundation Fund at WYCF is March 17, 2025.

For over 35 years the Wyoming Community Foundation has connected people who care with causes that matter to build a better Wyoming. WYCE has granted more than $120 million to charitable causes WYCEF has granted more than $100 million to charitable causes while ensuring communities have the resources to thrive in good and bad times.
