COKEVILLE — The Lady Panthers were at home this week on Tuesday, Oct. 8, and Friday, Oct. 11, in volleyball action. Tuesday the Lady Panthers were hosts to the Lady Eagles of Lyman. It was a battle, but the Lady Panthers fell in three sets.

On Friday, the Lady Panthers hosted the Little Snake River Lady Rattlers. It was Senior Night. Seniors honored included: Avree Thornock, daughter of Jason and Tracy Thornock; and Cambry Harmon, daughter of Wayne and Sivi Harmon.

The Lady Panthers came out strong in the first set winning in a tight battle but lost the next three and the match. This week the Lady Panthers will travel to Snake River on Friday and Encampment and Saratoga on Saturday.

Author Gary Hogg visited Cokeville schools on Wednesday, Oct. 9. During his visit, Gary spent time in each grade at Cokeville Elementary sharing a writing class and giving students ideas on ways to improve their writing. That evening he was back to present to parents and students.

During his presentation he read several writings from elementary students and also autographed books. Thanks to district and school librarians for sponsoring this great opportunity.

The Cokeville PTO held a meeting on Wednesday, Oct. 9, to put the final touches on their annual Halloween Carnival. This year’s carnival will be on Thursday, Oct. 24, at Cokeville High School. They will serve a potato bar with chili. There will be carnival games, a coloring contest and a costume contest along with a silent basket auction. Proceeds will go toward the sixth grade Yellowstone trip and PTO sponsored activities.

The Panthers traveled to Kemmerer for a game under the lights to face the Rangers on their home turf. It was a battle, as the Panthers found themselves down 16-13 late in the fourth quarter. The Panthers kept their composure and found the end zone with less than two minutes to go in regulation and stole the win, 20-16, over the home team.

Kayson Walker carried the ball 22 times for 121 yards. Justin Moyes rushed seven times for 43 yards. Hudson Himmerich, Ammon Hatch, Kayson Walker and Clay Teichert each had one interception. Hudson also had one fumble recovery. Ryder Pope was in on 22 tackles, Kalob Haderlie was in on 18 and Kayson Walker was in on 15.

The Panthers will be home for their final home game of the regular season on Friday against the Warriors of Worland. Kickoff is set for 3 p.m.
