Cokeville community celebrates Pioneer Day

The Cokeville Stock and Saddle Flag Team presents a flag ceremony during the annual Pioneer Day rodeo in Cokeville last week. On Saturday, July 20, the Pioneer Day Celebration continued with parade featuring Dorothy Teichert as the Grand Marshall. “Where Legends are Forged,” was the theme. The parade was followed by a program at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints with featured speakers Gary and Carolyn Allred, who shared family pioneer stories. There was a four-on-four volleyball tournament that featured 13 great teams. Many enjoyed participating and being spectators. The final event of the day was the Cokeville Stock and Saddle Company Rodeo. This year’s honorees included: Kim Clark, Darrell Hunting and Gordon Thornock. Each was honored for their efforts through the years in making the Pioneer Day Celebration a great success. Special thanks to everyone who put together the events over the weekend and the many who supported it. (GAZETTE PHOTO/Jan Moody)
