Pine Creek Ski Area held its annual Ski Carnival on Saturday, March 14. It was a beautiful day for skiing. This carnival was started in 1977 and has been a winter tradition ever since. It is a great opportunity for young skiers to show off their talents and for the not-so-young to prove they’ve still got it.
This year, there was live music for those taking a break inside the lodge, some great skiing and yummy food. There were athletes competing from Salt Lake City, Evanston, Star Valley, Bear Lake, Mountain View, Kemmerer and Cokeville.
Individual results were as follows: Bunny Hill Races - (Ages 4-5) Ellie Haycock - 1st, Jones Colton - 2nd; (Ages 6-7) Todd Haycock -1st, Cordyn Millard - 2nd, Denali Keetch - 3rd; Slalom - (Ages 6-8) Rocco Giles - 1st, Kinlee Christensen - 2nd, Ella Eklund - 3rd; Slalom (Ages 9-11) Slome Sua - 1st, Koen Asper - 2nd, Nephi Cook - 3rd; Slalom (Ages 12-14) Mitzie Hunt - 1st, Jase Burton - 2nd, Simon Sua - 3rd; G/S Snowboard (Ages 9-11) Wyatt Eklund - 1st, Seth Maxwell - 2nd; (Ages 12-14) Eric Eklund - 1st; (Ages 15-17) Reznor Jacobson - 1st; Cross Ski (Ages 10-12) Slome Sua - 1st, Nephi Cook - 2nd; (Ages 13-15) Mitzie Hunt - 1st, Simon Sua - 2nd; (Ages 16-17) Moss -1st, Tobler - 2nd; (Ages 18+) Kyle Roberts - 1st, Skyler Chambers - 2nd; Cross Snowboard (Ages 10-12) Riggin Keetch - 1st, Payton Allred - 2nd; (Ages 13-15) Reznor Jacobson - 1st; (Ages 18+) Shaydon Poulson - 1st, Austin Michel - 2nd. Pine Creek Ski Area recently finished ski schools with Cokeville, Randolph, Bear Lake, Star Valley Middle School, Osmond Elementary and Evanston Parks and Recreation. With Pine Creek Ski Area in our own back yard, ski school is a great opportunity for kids to learn this fun sport. Season passes for next year are on sale now. Thanks to Paul Etcheverry and his
amazing staff for working so hard to provide this opportunity. Paul wanted
to remind everyone to “keep your tips up.”
