CASPER — The state meet was full of triumphs, mixed with a few disappointments, like it is just about every year.

The girls team was led by junior Kennadi Gilbert’s outstanding performance. She competed in four events, and brought home state medals in all four, including an individual state championship and all-state award in the 300-meter low hurdles.

Eight girls qualified for and competed at the state meet, and every one of them brought home at least one medal. The biggest surprise of the state meet was freshman Amy Ogle. She had a season-best performance in the shot put that carried her to a top five finish. She was the only class 2A freshman to make finals in that event.

The girls finished in the top eight in the state as a team, overall.

The boys team was a little less experienced than the girls team, but still performed well. They were led by senior Matt Archibald, who brought home three state medals, including a top three finish in the 100-meter dash.

Fellow senior Sidney Chaulk also had a great meet, with an individual medal in the 800-meter and anchoring the 4x800-meter relay to a sixth place finish. There were good performances from each of the other members of the boys team who got their first taste of this level of competition, and can look forward to returning even better next year.
