RIVERTON — The Kemmerer Rangers faced some tough opponents at regional basketball competition in Riverton, Feb. 22-23.

The Rangers’ first game was against Rocky Mountain, which ended with a score of 58-27 in favor of the Grizzlies.

“We got out-hustled! That’s all that could be said — we struggled with shooting,” said Coach Phil Thatcher.

The Rangers’ second game was against Greybull, resulting in a Buffalo win, 54-41.

“This was a tight four- to six-point game until the last two minutes. We had fouls and they made their shots,” said Thatcher summarizing the game.

Overall the team had a good season, going in third in conference with nine overall wins.

“I’m proud of the team this season. They did everything asked of them,” Thatcher said of his boys. “We knew going in that making state would be tough.”

Thatcher indicated that he was already looking ahead to next season.

“We will be losing three seniors, but will bring back four players including two starters. We’ll be a young team, but it will be exciting to see what happens. I’m excited to start off-season training,” he said.
