Max Carl Braegger, 75, passed away on Jan. 6 at the University of Utah Medical Center in Salt Lake City, Utah, from complications due to cancer.
He was born on Dec. 26, 1937, in Ogden, Utah, the son of Carl Arthur and Helen Olive (Hansky) Braegger. He married Vanita Hayes, with whom he had three children; Max and Vanita later divorced.
He then married Toni Renee Juvan on May 11, 1974. Max worked for the Afton Police Department prior to becoming Lincoln County sheriff for eight years.
He is survived by his three children, Jeff Braegger of Rock Springs, Wyo., and daughters Donna Poulos of Rock Springs and Holly Kaiser of New Mexico. He is also survived by brothers Robert (Naomi) Braegger of Indiana, and Milton of Florida, and one sister, Eva (William) Belliston of Murray, Utah.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Toni Renee.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, Jan. 12, at Ball Family Chapel in Kemmerer at 1 p.m. Graveside services will follow visitation at the South Lincoln Cemetery at 2 p.m.
