KEMMERER — Kemmerer Elementary fourth grade teachers Eva Lamp and Raquel Rowland were among the “Best of the Best” at a conference of the same name in Cheyenne on Thursday, Nov. 1, and Friday, Nov. 2.

Selected teachers and state legislators attended the first of these Wyoming conferences at the Little America Resort in Cheyenne. The purpose of such conferences is to further develop a network for Wyoming teachers to positively impact education and improve students’ achievement.

Lamp and Rowland were the only teachers representing Lincoln County at the conference. All attendees had to submit an application and create a 90-second video demonstrating creative classroom teaching and learning. The two used the 2012 Expedition Yellowstone as the subject of their entry video. Expedition Yellowstone is a yearly semester of study for the fourth grade class that culminates with a trip to Yellowstone for the students.

Statewide over eighty teachers applied, and only 30 were selected to represent their respective school districts at the conference. Those selected then became presenters at the conference, showing their video and discussing their teaching styles and ideas.
