EVANSTON — The Cokeville Panther wrestlers began their 2012-13 wrestling season at the Evanston Invitational, held Friday, Nov. 30, and Saturday, Dec. 1, with 26 teams from Wyoming, Utah and Nevada.

The Panthers had 15 wrestlers competing. Four competed in the freshman division, three in the JV and eight in the varsity division. The first day went fairly well with the Panthers winning 23 of their 35 matches. In the varsity division, the Panthers had 19 matches and won 13. This gave the Panthers a great start for the first day.

At the beginning of day two, the Panthers were tied for third place with Spring Creek, Nev., with 62 points. The leader was Star Valley with 77 followed by Cheyenne East’s 70 points in second place. The second day, however, turned out to be more difficult and the Panthers won only half of their matches. The Panthers ended the tournament in eighth place. They travel to Afton the week of Dec. 3 for the Brave Brawl.
