The Panthers began their season with three games this past weekend at the Carbon County basketball tournament. The Panthers had a great weekend and returned home with three wins under their belts.
On Friday, Nov. 30, they played the Saratoga Panthers for their first game of the tournament. The game ended with 61 points for the Panthers and 48 for Saratoga. Four players scored in the double digits: Brendon Cook led with 15, Jonathan Fiscus and Cody Nate had 13, followed by Braxton Delgado with 10. Leading on the boards were Fiscus and Cook with 8 total rebounds. The team came out playing great defense and worked well together on the offensive end of the floor to get the win.
On Saturday morning the Panthers had to come back from a 15-point deficit to win a close one against the Rams of Dubois. The final score at the buzzer was Cokeville 52, Dubois 51.
Leading the scoring for the Panthers were Kennan Thompson with 15, Fiscus with 14 and Cook with 12. Rebounding leaders were Delgado with 5, Kennan with 3 and B. Cook with 2. During this game, younger players Nathan Cook, Jake Jackman and Lincoln Teichert were asked to step in and play and contributed to the team’s success.
The third and final game of the weekend was against the Wright Panthers, which the Cokeville Panthers won 54-42. Cook had a super game with 25 points, Fiscus had 15 and Braxton Delgado had 8. On the boards B. Cook had 9 and his brother, Nathan Cook, had 6.
Their first home games will be on Friday, Dec. 7, with JV at 4 p.m. and varsity at 7 p.m.
