Our beloved husband, father, grandfather and brother, Spencer Norris Preece, 77, passed away on Friday, Sept. 28. He was born on Oct. 17, 1934, in Afton, Wyo., to Norris G. and Edna Luella Wheeler Preece. Spencer grew up and attended schools in Cache Valley and later moved to Opal, Wyo., with a recent move to Ogden, Utah.
Spencer was a southern baptist and the pastor and founder of the Opal Baptist Church.
He worked for the Northern Pacific Railroad, Western Union and retired as a plant operator for Utah Power and Light.
Spencer married Ann Harper on Dec. 29, 2004, in Kemmerer.
He loved being on the ranch with his dog Queenie by his side. He enjoyed hunting and considered himself a mountain man. He loved his newest dogs, Queenie Too and Fluffy.
Spencer is survived by his loving wife, Ann; sons, Russell (Janet) of Clearfield, Utah, and Gordon (Valynn) of Roy, Utah; daughters Wendy Preece of Ogden, Utah, Shannon Preece and Dawn Reinke of California, and Anna (James) Dunlap of Washington; brothers Norman (Linda), Craig (Joey), Steven (Jane) and Roger (Gay); eight grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Vernon and Howard.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday, Oct. 13, at 1 p.m. at the Washington Heights Church, 1770 East 6200 South in Ogden. Arrangements have been entrusted to Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary at 3408 Washington Blvd.
