Threesome combines for team title

Jim Wright, Bonnie Wright and Mike Haws combined to win the team best ball title in UP&L’s Lincoln District golf tournament held Saturday at the Kemmerer Golf Course.

Finishing second was the team of Paul Beachler and Mickey Wholschlegel, and in third place was the team of Todd Anderson and Rita Haws.

Todd Anderson won the closest to pin contest on (the) No. 8 green, Scott Donaldson of Evanston won the longest drive off No. 3 tee, and Bonnie Wright dropped the longest putt on No. 9 green in individual contests during the event.

Nishi moves to semis

Junior Nishi moved into the semifinals Monday of the winners’ bracket in the Kemmerer Field Club’s 1985 match play championships currently being played at the Kemmerer Golf Course. Nishi moved ahead for a joust against Terry Jacobs after pinning a 2-up victory over Don Kominsky.

Kominsky had advanced to the third round earlier with a 1-up extra-hole victory over Mark Borino last Thursday afternoon.

Bob Starring and Jim Dover have a second round match yet unplayed in the winners’ bracket with the winner going against Paul Beachler, and the victory of that match then facing Bob Bramlet for the right to play against the winner of Nishi-Jacobs match.

In the loser’s bracket of the two-game elimination event Mike Haws defeated Shane Pollard. Roger Peters ousted Tony Tomassi and Bruce Mower sent Larry Hassler to the sidelines.
