COKEVILLE — Students honored veterans with their annual Veterans Day Program on Monday, Nov. 12, in the Cokeville High School auditorium.

Prior to performances, veterans were greeted by junior and senior boys and presented with a poppy corsage as they arrived for the program. The sixth grade boys presented the colors and student body president Ana Cook welcomed everyone in attendance.

The program began with the sixth grade band’s rendition of “My Country ‘Tis of Thee,” followed by a reading by sixth grade essay winner, Ammon Teichert. The fifth grade band performed “When the Saints come Marching In,” followed by essay winner Kendra Cook’s reading.

The first grade performed “I Pledge Allegiance,” the second graders sang “This is Your Country” and the third grade class sang “This Land is Your Land.”

Second grade shape poem winner Gracie Himmerich, third grade essay winner Emmie Barnes and fourth grade essay winner Nate Barnes all performed readings following the band performances.

The final musical number, “Thank You, Soldiers” was sung by the fourth, fifth and sixth grade classes; duets were performed by Whytney Murdock and Abbie Johnson and Eli Linford and Ammon Halls.

A slide show of local veterans was also presented, followed by a moment of silence and Tessa Teichert’s and Jonathan Fiscus’ “Taps” performance. The American Legion Auxiliary, LaVoy Thornock, Unit 40 hosted a special dinner at the Episcopal Church following the program.
