James R. Stoddard ~ Oct. 27, 1922 Dec. 30, 2012

James R. Stoddard passed away on Dec. 30 at South Lincoln Medical Center in Kemmerer at the age of 90.

Jim was born on Oct. 27, 1922, in Meade County, S.D., the son of Dan and Myrtle Margaret (Morris) Stoddard. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1942 and was honorably discharged in 1945.

In 1947, he married Mary Ann Ready in Thermopolis, Wyo., and to this union were born three daughters.

Jim is survived by his wife of sixty-five years, Mary Ann Stoddard of Kemmerer; daughters Barbara Jean (Ed) Ropelato, Margaret Ann (Bob) Gergen, and Hazel Darleen Stoddard and friend Tim Beidl; grandchildren Jere (Karen) McMillan, Jodi (Brian) Biebinger and Nic Gergen; great grandsons Matthew and Heston McMillan; brother Gordon (Vernie) Stoddard; brothers-in-law Vern (Karen) Halverson, Richard Nieman and O.B. (Rose) Ready; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Ruth Nieman and Jean Halverson; and three brothers, Leonard, Morris and Darrel.

Jim spent ten years farming, fifteen years at Climax Mine in Leadville, Colo., a lot of time as a carpenter and concluded his working career with Lincoln County School District No. 1.

He loved his work, and enjoyed fishing, hunting and time with his family. He will be missed by his family, friends and his little dog, Squeek.

Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, Jan. 3, at 11 a.m. at Ball Family Chapel in Kemmerer.

Cremation will follow services under the direction of Ball Family Chapel and inurnment will be held in the spring of 2013.
