Modified: Thursday, Oct 4th, 2012

Bervadon Loretta Mitchell, 81, passed away Sept. 29, in Casper, Wyo. She was born Oct. 9, 1930, in Basalt, Idaho, daughter of Neilo and Elsie (Krebbs) Hacklin.

She grew up in LaBarge, Wyo., and attended high school in Washington State, graduating as valedictorian of her class at an all girls Catholic school. After graduation, Bervadon returned to Wyoming and worked at the unemployment office in Kemmerer and later for Western Union. She later transferred to the Western Union office in Laramie.

She met Lee Roy Mitchell in Kemmerer and they were married August 21, 1951, in Laramie. Because her husband worked in the seismograph and construction industry, they lived in several different towns in Wyoming for a period of time, settling in Riverton in 1960. The couple had five children together, but divorced in 1968. She then lived in Riverton; Cheyenne; Gillette; Reno, N.V.; and LaBarge, returning to Riverton in 1985 after the death of her mother.

Bervadon worked as a cocktail waitress for the El Torro Supper Club, secretary for the school superintendent at St. Stephens Mission and then worked as a bookkeeper for Rabler Motors, Yates Construction and Gary Brodricks. She also managed the Teton Hotel Lounge and worked as a cocktail waitress and bartender at the Elks Lodge. She was a bookkeeper for Mustang Music and Vending, which she co-owned with her son, Bruce.

Bervadon was a member of the Catholic Faith and the Riverton Eagles. She enjoyed golfing, watching football and professional golf, and walking and spending time with her family.

Survivors include her son, Bruce Mitchell of Riverton; daughters, Sharon (Ben) Adamson of Riverton, Betty (Shelton) Scheetz of Orting, Wash., and Serena Garner of Salt Lake City, Utah; brothers, Ronald Hacklin of Pine Haven, Wyo., and Dennis Hacklin of La Barge; sister, Betty Legarra of Kemmerer; three grandchildren, Les Manzanares, Michael Scheetz, and Jason Miller; two great grandchildren, Halie Manzanares and Boston Chastain; in addition to numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother Donald Hacklin; son Neil Eugene Mitchell; niece Denita Hacklin; son-in-law Melvin Garner, Jr.; brother-in-law Chub Legarra; and nephew Terry Legarra.

A celebration of life for Bervadon will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 6, at Davis Funeral Home in Riverton. Interment will follow at Mountain View Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday, Oct. 5, from 5–7 p.m. at Davis Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service. Memorial contributions may be made to the Shriners Children’s Hospital in Denver or to a charity of the donor’s choice in care of Davis Funeral Home.
