KEMMERER — A Monday, Nov. 12, head-on collision between a VW Jetta and a tractor-trailer resulted in the hospitalization of one driver and the death of another.
According to the Wyoming Highway Patrol, Butte, Mont., resident Allen W. Halsted, 29, was traveling eastbound on U.S. Highway 30 about 17 miles west of Kemmerer when he drifted across the highway’s centerline into the westbound lane and head on into a tractor-trailer combination operated by Regis, N.Y., resident Eric M. Stamour, 33.
Halsted was pronounced dead at the scene and Stamour was transported to South Lincoln Medical Center. Both men were wearing seatbelts at the time of the accident.
Stamour was cited for a false log book and invalid commercial driver’s license. Investigation of the accident, which required a temporary highway closure, is ongoing pending Halsted’s toxicology results.
