Aquatic invasive species meetings scheduled

Posted: Monday, Sep 24th, 2012

CHEYENNE The Wyoming Game and Fish Department (WGFD) is holding public information gathering meetings this week on proposed changes to the regulations on aquatic invasive species (AIS). To help prevent the introduction of AIS into Wyoming, WGFD is proposing regulations to implement a new state law requiring all watercraft entering Wyoming by land to have an AIS inspection prior to contacting or entering the waters of the state.

All interested parties are encouraged to attend one of the public meetings to gather input on the proposed changes. All meetings start at 7 pm. The Thursday, Sept. 27, meeting in Cheyenne will be available for live viewing and commenting on the web by visiting http://bit.ly/GFinvasive.

Local meetings will be held in Green River on Tuesday, Sept. 25, at the Green River WGFD Regional Office, 351 Astle Ave., and in Alpine on Wednesday, Sept. 26, at the Alpine Civic Center located at 121 Hwy 89 in Alpine.

Interested persons can provide comments at one of the meetings, on the web at wgfd.wyo.gov/web2011/fishing-1000899.aspx, or by writing to Wyoming Game and Fish Department,
Attn: AIS Regulation,
528 S. Adams St.,
Laramie, WY 82070.

Additional information on AIS is on the Game and Fish website, wgfd.wyo.gov/web2011/fishing-1000206.aspx.
