Locals cleaned out closets and cabinets last week and donated items to victims of the recent earthquakes in Haiti.
Peggy Popp, owner of the Peddler’s Fair in Diamondville, collected clothes, shoes, blankets and personal hygiene items.
“We had an excellent response, “ Popp said. “We probably have two tons of clothes. We got more than we thought we would get.”
Local donors were instructed to leave items outside the door of the Peddler’s Fair if no one was there. “We checked the store four or five times a day last week,” said Mark Huckaby, owner of the Western Wyoming Roadhouse.
“Today, it was up to the door,” he said Monday morning as he loaded donations onto a truck and flatbed trailer. “We couldn’t even get in the door because of all the stuff people left.”
