Kemmerer caught between winter storms Helena and Iras

December brought only light to moderate snows, but by Jan. 5, winter storm Helena came roaring across the Rocky Mountains bringing massive snowfall, wind and a bevy of broken pipes and school closures. Thursday schools were closed.

Ridley's Family Market closed last week due to gas line leak

There are many benefits to living in a small town and Kemmerer certainly has a wide variety of positive resources to help make this a wonderful place to be. However, when one of these valuable services are interrupted or halted, it can negatively impact the community.

D.J. Harrison expected to be extradited this month to face murder charges in Kemmerer

Later this month, Dereck James Harrison, 23, will be extradited and moved from the Utah Department of Corrections in Draper, Utah, to the Lincoln County Detention Center in Kemmerer to face sentencing on his involvement in the death of Kay Porter Ricks, a 63-year-old American Fork, Utah resident whose body was found near Kemmerer on May 17.

2017 City reconstruction: Tear down the old jail and renovate courthouse

Lincoln County commissioners have awarded the construction contract to the project's lowest bidder, general contractor MW Construction from Paradise, Utah.
The former law enforcement building will be torn down to make room for an employee parking lot and the second floor of the Lincoln County Court house is getting a renovation.

Wyoming upgrades science curriculum standard

To improve the public school science curriculum in this state, new standards for science content and performance for all public schools in Wyoming were approved last year. Gov. Matt Mead signed the new science standard proposed by the Wyoming State Board of Education into law on Nov. 14, 2016.
