This year’s Lincoln County Fair in Afton offered something for everyone, and for rodeo fans, two nights of PRCA Rodeo action Friday and Saturday was a great way to cap off the weeklong event.

Les Ohlhauser handled the announcing duties, and longtime PRCA rodeo clown/barrelman Kevin Higley was on hand to entertain the crowd. Keeping the cowboys safe were bullfighters Tyson Twitchell and Sam Childress, and pickup men Marc Dickinson, Cody Miller and Royce Breeden.

Diamondville’s own Donny Proffit won the bareback bronc riding event, with an 84.5-point ride on Summit Pro Rodeo’s Puppet Master during Friday night’s rodeo, pocketing $1,874 for his efforts. Ranchester’s Seth Hardwick was second with an 84, while Cooper Cooke rounded out the Top 3 with an 82. Myles Carlson (79), Chad Rutherford (77.5) and Drake Amundson (77) finished 4-6, respectively.

Bull riding proved to be a tough go over the weekend, with only two qualified rides over both nights. Randlett, Utah’s Jate Frost finished in the top spot, scoring a 79 on Summit Pro Rodeo’s Water Moccasin to earn $4,778. Trace Redd, out of Malad, Idaho, was second with a score of 78, earning $4,152.

Rock Springs’ Ira Dickinson rose to the top of a crowded field in the saddle bronc event, placing first with an 83.5 on Summit Pro Rodeo’s Red Wall, for a $2,042 payday. Kiowa, Colorado’s Cauy Pennington was second, with an 81.5, pocketing $1,565; Rock Springs’ Bailey Small rounded out the Top 3 with an 81, earning $1,157. Coleman Shallbetter and Jack Skavdahl tied for fourth (80.5, $613 each); Joe Priebe was sixth (78.5, $340); Gavin McAllister and Ian Forbes McGivney tied for seventh. (77, $238 each.)

In steer wrestling, Trevin Fox set the standard with a time of 4 seconds, winning $1,159. Wyatt Stephens was second, with a time of 4.4 seconds ($959), while Hank Filippini rounded out the Top 3, with a time of 4.5 ($759). Judd Austin and Gage Gregersen tied for fourth (5.0, $459 each;) Grant Peterson finished sixth (5.2, $200).

In tie-down roping, Kasen Brennise, out of Craig, Colorado, won the event with a time of 9.2 seconds. Westhaven, Utah’s Rylee Rogers finished second, with a time of 9.6 seconds, while Jake Hannum placed third, with a time of 10.3 seconds. Josh Jennings (4th, 13.5), Daxton Hill 5th, 14.2) and Wyatt Crandall (6th, 21.3) also finished in the money.

On the women’s side, West Point, Utah’s Mackenzie King set the standard in barrel racing, with a time of 17.99 seconds. Gracie Stickler — from Eden, Utah — finished second, posting a time of 18.01 seconds. In third place was Randi Perry with a time of 18.03, while Gracie Perry and Lacee Phelps finished in a tie for fourth, with a time of 18.31. Renae Cowley (6th, 18.39), Callie Jones (7th, 18.49) and Ryley Hasenack (8th, 18.56) rounded out the money-winners.

In team roping, the duo of Clint Kap and Brad Freeland finished in the top spot with a time of 5.9 seconds. The team of Shane Sims and Wes Miller finished in second, posting a time of 6 seconds. Third place went to the team of Peter Bennett and Jake Rodriguez, with a time of 6.9 seconds, while the team of Jade Espenscheid and Arye Espenscheid finished fourth, with a time of 7.2 seconds. Bryan Ray and Colt Ramsey (5th 7.4) and Jade Anderson and R.D. Abplanalp (6th, 12.5) also finished in the money.
